Tranny problems
My buddy has a 99.5 F-250 with a auto trans, the guy he got the truck from is also a friend and had put alot of money into the trans getting it beefed up and neither one of them has had a prob with the trans. Well today he was at a stop sign and decided to play a bit, he had one foot on gas and one on brake, spooled up the turbo, tires just started to spin he let off the brake said he heard a pop and then nothing. Had to tow it home, theres no fluid leaking or any signs of damage on the outside, but when you put it in gear, there is nothing, not reverse, or drive. Anyone have any ideas?
He puts it in gear gives it gas and it dont move, dosent even make any noise from the tranny?????? ![]() Thanks for your help. |

I would start with the transfer case. It could be caught between gears or could have grenaded on him. The transmission should act funky or show some indication (leaking fluid, burnt fluid, etc.) if it were in need of a rebuild. Drain the fluid from the transfer case and look at it. This will probably give you a good idea of where to start. Good Luck---
