Injector O Ring Question

If the o ring between the hp oil recess and the fuel recess on the injector on a 7.3 were bad or defective, what would be some of the symptoms? High oil consumption? Oil in the fuel tank? Would smoke be worse, as the engine heated up and the tank level got lower?

I did a search, I haven't come up with anything. Will let you know later if I find anything.
