Code # P1396

Hey there, new to the site but it is great. I have a 99 7.3 with 134,000 miles. Purchase new in 1998. The SES light came on one morning this week. The code is P1396. Manufacturer Control. Ignition System or misfire. It starts fine and runs good. Anyone know how to fix this problem.

Since it starts and runs fine, I'd clear it and see if it comes back. If it does, we'll get'er figgured out.

P1396 Glow plug monitor fault, bank #2 One or more glow plugs failed or circuit fault

You need to pull the valve cover on the drivers side and test the glow plugs. You either have one or more bad glow plugs, a disconnected harness under the valve cover, or you have a problem with the glow plug module. This code only is for californial emmissions trucks, which are the only ones with glow plug modules....
