Smoking
Have a slight smoking problem. After driving on the freeway and getting off onto regular roads my truck bogs down and white smoke comes out of the exhaust. It does it more so after stopping at a red light. It also does this after going down a long hill, coast down the hill and when reaching the bottom I push the accelerator to maintain speed and it bogs and blows white smoke out. What would cause this? It does it with the ebpv plugged in and unplugged. I have a new fuel filter and the oil and oil filter are new. I dont get any check engine lights or anything like that.
Thanks for the help |

Well could be quite a few things. When is the last time the fuel filter has been changed? I would start with that and possibly a fuel pressure test.

I gave you some bad advice since its white smoke sorry had a brain fart. Probobly with that many miles I would check for any codes get it scanned for codes and go from there, but you probobly need an injector buzz test and probobly a cylinder contribution test. Will need to take it to someone who can perform those tests with a scan tool.

Thanks guys. The fuel filter was changed two weeks ago. Im in columbus ohio. What kind of scanner would you recomend to get, or do I have to take this to the dealer to get it scanned? Its been doing this for a little while but here lately its been getting a little worse. Doesnt really matter what the temperature is outside. And am I able to do the buzz test and contribution tests on my own? Thanks again.

You could if you had a scanner that will perform those tests. They are high dollar items. The cheapest one would be auto enginuity that runs on a laptop. I would take it to someone you trust. Is your truck stock? Do you have access to a programmer that will scan a powerstroke? If you do you could start there to see if you have any codes. My guess is with that many miles you have some worn rings.
