No Oil Pressure

94.5 psd. Stock 7.3 L engine. 180,000K.
My oil Pressure gauge has never climbed much above the N in Normal. Now it has dropped to just above the Low redline. NO oil Leaks, Oil level is normal, truck seems to be running fine.
Can anyone help me find the sensor. The lousy picture I found shows it up on top of the HPOP. Could I put a test gauge to the HPOP and see if i really have a problem???
Any ideas how to test the gauge, and or sensor???

Thank you in advance,
Brett

Hey Brett, I had the same problem when I first bought my truck. My oil gauge wasn't showing much pressure AND it fluctuated every so often.
Swing by a parts store and pick up a new oil sending unit for ~$10.

Here's ya a picture. The sending unit is actually on the HPOP Reservoir.

Replace that sending unit and go from there man

if you had 0 oil pressure the PSD engine would not run thats the glory of the HUEI injection. change the sending unit or the guage..

That's the whole theory behind the HUEI: a fail-safe
If ya knock your oil pan off the injectors won't be able to fire, thus saving your engine...

Anyways, hopefully that'll fix your problem, pthumbug

Hey guys, thanx for the quick response...
I kept driving home because I figured the HPOP would give me some immediate feedback if I really had oil pressure that low. I'll start with the sending unit and I move to the wire/gauge if neccessary...

I'll let you know.
Brett
