Here's a good one for you guys. Has anyone heard of a 2001 7.3 Powerstroke throwing a rod at only 108,000 miles with absolutely no sign of an issue? I've religously maintained it and never beat on it. I have only a Bullydog 6 bank and cold air intake on it. The heaviest load I've ever put on it was my 6x12 enclosed trailer with a few bikes in it. That's nothing for this truck... It basicly grenaded while doing about 75mph. Any thoughts?....Or has anyone heard of this. I have friends with 300,000miles who beat the hell out of their trucks with the same motor and major mods. They run perfect!!!.... Could it just be bad luck?

Mmm just sounds like bad luck to me... Do ya know if the rod broke, or if it was a failure with on either end of the rod i.e. bearings?

Bully dog= Poor HIGH Cylinder pressure tuning= Broken PMR rod's... See it...

Hmm never heard of that before CSI.... What does the bullydog do to cause high pressure that any other tuner wouldn't? Just a combination of poor timing w/ fuel delivery?

Similar to the old TS Fuel 7 tunes, just really advanced timing...

I've never heard it either.A very well know known Diesel tuning company in my hometown as well as others rave about it....

Ahhhhh....That makes sense!!...But to cause that at 108,000miles?

Bet they sell it too...
Not trying to beat on you or anything, I feel your pain, just had to drop a new motor in mine... Check out this link... Short Block, no core, Forged Rods, $3500 |

Most have learned, some have not changed there stuff, Edge will kill a 6.0 in no time, bully dog is the 7.3 IMHO... But I have seen stock trucks chuck PMR's too...
