I have a 2001 f250 7.3 it has started to knock. It sounds like a rod could be knocking. The only thing is that it only does it at an idle or on deceleration. I stall it up on the converter and the knock goes away. If I am driving it as long as I am on the fuel it is fine runs great. really it runs great all the time but this knock is getting worse. I seem to think after listening to it that it could be coming from the flex plate area. Could it be a cracked flex plate?

It could be injector related. Mine does it when its warm at an idle. sometimes its worse than other times. Fuel additives have help it but it seems to be a common thing on the 7.3's
