Help! Is this even possible????

Ok guys, I've got a 1999 F-450 with 159,000 miles. Recently it started knocking and I took it to get fixed. They said it had spun the cam bearing. They ended up putting a new cam and bearing in........then they began to roll it over to put it back in the truck when the noticed the block was cracked from top to bottom..They had never even heard of this happening with the 7.3's and neither has anyone else we have talked to. So basically, does anyone know any hot deals on 7.3's for a 99+? We found a complete take-out with 5000 miles for $6400. But if anyone has any ideas, please let me know!
