Skipping and dying every now and then

Earler today while my truck was running I hoped out of it and it shocked the crap out of me and at the same time sounded like it was about to die. Since then it keeps skipping every once in a while and sometimes dies when I come to a stop. The check engine light comes on after it skips but goes off if u shut it off and turn it back on. What do you all think?

What kinda shock? 12V shock or static?
