turbo noise?

i have a 2000 7.3. just noticed the other day when i give it a good stomp i hear the turbo kick in then when i take my foot off the accelerator i can hear lke a air noise? for a few seconds? sounds almost like defalting the air out of your power seats. anybody have any ideas what this could be??

sounds like "dududududududud"? will do it more so uner load (powerbrake it without spinning the tires)

it only will do it when i take my foot off the gas when i floor it. it sounds like air moving or deflating? like when you turn your fan vent off but louder i don't know any other way to explain it. there id no clunck or anything. it stops after a few seconds????

I would check all of your intercooler hoses. Make sure you have no leaks. That would be my first project. Take those tubes off and clean everything real good. It should be sooooooo clean it feels almost sticky. Then check for cracks or cuts in all the tubes and hose connections. Yes pull out the intake X also. It is a pain to put back together, just take your time.

I have heard similar to that in many 6.0L trucks, but never in a 7.3.....My 2000 7.3 does not do it, but if I boost it upto about 28 psi and let out fast I hear what I think is the bypass (Wastegate) open to relieve excess pressure for a sec or two...... could you be hearing that? It sounds almost like a hiss....boost leak kind of sound.

thanks guys i think it could be the wastegate bypass. i took it for a good drive this afternoon it was'nt as noticable as yesturday but still there depending on how fast i took my foot off. once again thanks

I have it all the time, I'm actually going to post a video/sound clip soon that has the sound and everything in it.

I don't think there is anything to worry about at all...

My 99 would do a few different things depending on what I was doing. Sometimes i'd get on it in first or second and then let off and you could hear a sound comparable to someone exhaling loudly. A few times when I would mash it and lose traction when I let off it would bite and then i'd get the "dudududu" kinda sound that Marc was sayin......all normal.......how long have you had the truck? I mean is the the first time since you've had it that you've really gotten on it and experimented with it's power?

i have only have had the truck for 3 months but it's my second one in the 7.3. the other one did'nt do it. but i think it's nothing to worry about.
