weird problem need advice please

i was on my way home from picking up a trailer today crusing down the highway at a constant speed, about 70, and the truck just jerked all of a sudden it felt like the fuel cutout for just a split second then it was fine, it did it again a few minutes later, then it did it a third time about 5 or 10 min after that, and this time the check engine light came on. well the rest of the way home it was fine, never did it again and once i shut the truck off and turned it back on the light was off.

i did top the truck off with b10 biodiesel, about half a tank, but i wouldnt think that would cause any problems.
would this problem be the cam sensor going bad?

I had the same problem. Definetly a Cam Position Sensor , real e-z to change. I bought mine On E-Bay for about 40.00

There is a recall out from Ford, cmp replacement, updated part, check with your local dealer. I am quite sure this is your issue. I am a Ford master certified diesel tech. They are about $27
here in Canada if it is not covered by the recall.

Have the same problem with my 97. Changed the cps twice with no change. I am using the updated sensor. The problem has become worse on mine. It has left me on the side of the road twice for up to 45 minutes. A couple of times I couldn't get it to start for a day or two. Random DTcodes coming up on scanner. I am checking out the PCM today. I'll post what I find.

wow thats a lot for a cps. you can also get them from dealerships that sell parts for international motors (cause thats what we have) and they are a fraction of the price usually

I found the second one on Ebay for $20. I should have checked the International dealer, but I am relatively new to powerstrokes and didn't know.
