Lights, crank, but no start

I replaced the batteries in my truck last week and everything seemed to be fine, but this morning the check battery light came on. When I hit the accelerator, the light went off for a few seconds, then came on again and the truck died. When I try to restart, the "wait to start" light doesn't come on, even though I seem to have power to everything else. The starter is cranking, but won't start. I also noticed before the truck died that the wipers seemed to be moving slower than normal and the dash lights were dim. Any thoughts?

I'd really appreciate any thoughts at all. My gasser is back up and running, but that's iffy at best. I'd like to get this problem fixed tonight, if possible. Thanks!

im sure a tech will be around to answer your question shortly... my guess would of been your batteries... your driverside battery runs your wait to start light...

The batteries are brand new. I'm not worried so much about the light unless it's an indication of why the truck won't start.

i am not a tech but i am maybe leaning towards the alternator! you can have it tested for free at your local parts shops. but heres a bump anyways!!

I'd thought about the alternator, but I just replaced that within the last couple of months.

My alternator is new (within the last three months), but since the batteries were bad, is it possible that the voltage regulator got fried?

I checked the battery cables, the negative on the driver's side was not quite tight, so I tightened it up. I put the charger on, batteries were showing really low.

I also took off the alternator, I'll get that checked tomorrow.

I'll post as soon as I know what's going on with the alternator.
