Intermittent no start

My 99 powerstroke has started having intermittent no start issues after I changed my starter. My tac reads 500 rpm while cranking and I have oil pressure on the gauge while cranking. I have oil in the hpop and my regulated return shows fuel pressure. It acts like the injectors arnt firing but I ran a buzz test and they sound good (only have about 5000 miles on them and maybe 500 miles on new hpop) but it comes back with a idm PCM communication error.
If I let it set for a day or two it will start just fine and run good the entire day and the next it might not even try to fire so I'm a little lost.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
