losing power

I have a 2000 f250 7.3 that sometimes when first cranked would idle rough and die. Then it took a couple of tries but it would crank and smooth out once up to normal temp. Had it checked for codes and there were none.No check engine light. I replaced the fuel filter but it has done the same thing one more time since. Also when I'm driving the truck when it's time to shift gears, if it doesn't right away it starts losing power until it shifts, once it does all power is back. Sometimes it'll lose power everytime it doesn't shift on time and then regains power when it shifts. It doesn't happen all the time but here lately it seems to be more frequent. Can anyone help me?
