Got bit by my CPS!

Well it happened to me! I almost bought a CPS off Ebay for $52, but decided it could wait. Boy was that a mistake! The very next day(Tuesday)I was leaving work and I went to pull out of the driveway and the truck stalled. In the road with a car coming hard. Luckily it fired back up and I pulled into my lane. Then it stalled as I slowed down for a roundabout.
Anyway, long story short it was the CPS! $111 later and an almost rounded off 10mm bolt It's fixed. We have an International dealership here and I got it there for $111. The stealership wanted $189 for it.

For anyone who hasn't done this before, one of the MOST important things to do is use an extension on the ratchet so the socket sits on the bolt head right. I missed that in the thread I read prior to beginning. It almost rounded before I saw that the metal bracket was in the way.

I'll be buying a CPS off Ebay for my glovebox!

Thanks Marc for the help.

yea....poor me.
On the bright side, I did get my new wheels and tires yesterday though. They ride GREAT and they look pretty sweet too. I need to add some pics to my garage with them on as well as the clear lights.

Well you can bet I'll always have a spare in the glovebox!
I should've listened earlier. It would've saved me a half a day.

I talked to a few guys I know that have 7.3's that have replaced the CPS, and they also said they figured that that was it from the signs. So to save time, I took the chance. Thanks again.

Yeah it would have saved me a lot of time too. I was with my current girlfriend and on my way to King's Island that day....that was ruined.....well.....at least king's island was.....when she and I got back to the empty house it was a different story.

Had to fly solo that afternoon, eh?

When mine went out I had a feeling that was what it was. I had the truck for about 8 months and was still learning about them and remembered what a friend had said about a failed cps....I wasn't surprised once I hooked up the code reader and it was the code for it....
