2000 Ford Excursion 7.3 no start
A few days ago I started my Excursion and headed to work. I noticed a small miss when the truck was up to speed under low RPMs. I continued to work. The truck sat in the parking lot all day (40 degrees). When I attempted to go home the Excursion started but had no power whatsoever. I went to an auto parts store and changed the fuel filter. I was only able to go 30mph. After changing the filter, the truck had the same problem. The codes read p1316 injector circuit and or IDM codes detected. p1247 turbo boost preasure low. I limped the vehicle home. About halfway home, about 10 miles, the truck took off and regained all it's power. It still had the small miss still. I parked it that evening. The next day it wouldn't start. This is my first real issue and I need some help. Where should I go from here? I need a game plan. Thanks for any help!!!

Before you take blind Stabs-in-the-Dark with those links
![]() Figure out what's causing your codes. The 1316 is a general IDM code that's telling you there's something wrong and you need to have the IDM perform a Buzz Test to further resolve what that issue is. 1247, Low Boost means LOW POWER... A good, professional scanner, is what you need next (even if you have to pay for it ). Guessing usually ends-up costing you more than fixing Only what needs to be fixed.Generally; If you have low power and the engine is running very roughly (missing cylinders) the IDM/UVCH is a good candidate. If you have low power and the engine runs smoothly (all 8) Fuel Delivery is what I be looking at first. Hard to tell from your description, but that's where I'd start! |
