Truck Randomly Dying!
I noticed a thread of this sort down a ways, but it sounds like my problem might be a bit different (but could be of the same cause). I have an early '99 F-250 7.3 with a Superchip tuner. I bought it in September, and ever since have had a small problem with it randomly dying about once every week or so. I was keeping it on the Hi-Performance program on the chip, and had switched it to Tow-Safe. When I did this, the truck died it seemed like every other stop or when I began to slow down. It would also jerk (like a bad engine miss on a gasser) when accelerating, whether it be 30 mph or 70 mph. I pulled the codes and the only one I can remember was a PO603 (there were four total). I cleared the codes and returned the program to stock setting and the problem seemed to go away.
Well, today, I programmed the truck to the Hi-Performance setting again. Not five blocks later and it died. So I pulled over and returned the setting to stock again, and it died again shortly after. Could this be something with my tuner? Computer? Or is it indeed the CPS? I've read theres a recall, but I already have bought one and figured I would just replace it if need be. Thanks for any and all help!
