Alternator/voltage regulator issue??

Hello,

I have an 01 7.3 with 223K miles on the original alternator. I had a battery issue and had it replaced under warranty. when I was troubleshooting I noticed that when I crank the truck it takes between 20 to 30 seconds for the batteries to actually register voltage coming from the alternator. In my past experiences the voltage should be coming back to the batteries as soon as the vehicle starts running. Is this not the case with the PSD charging system or is the regulator/ alternator finally dying.

Thanks
Jason
