Anyone have injector balance rate specs?
I looked at a 1999 F250 7.3 today. The owner said the truck has always had a "miss in it" every since he got it. He has owned it for 3 years. He says it misses in the "lower rpm range" and it "isn't very noticeable" but he would like to get it fixed because it annoys him. There are no active codes, and no codes stored in the memory. I checked the balance rates. Nothing appeared out of the ordinary except for cylinder 8. It was way higher than the other 7 cylinders. It was consistently running between 4.8 and 5.0. The other 7 were between .1 and 2.1. Anyone know how high they need to be before they are considered bad? I could not hear any fuel knocking at any rpm.

number 8 balance rate will always differ from the rest, as it is the long lead. if you think number 8 is causing the miss, remove the valve cover, run it, and disconnect the number 8 injector. see if the idle remains the same
can you monitor icp and ipr? |

the ethos will allow you to view icp and ipr. what you want to look for is high ipr duty cycle with lower than average icp at idle and low rpm. somewhere around 80% ipr duty cycle would be considered high. if you have those criteria, i'd say the pump is probably weak

Does it. Read high because of a bad Cps or is it normal to read high because of cps?
