Yet Another No Start...
Hey folks, I usually hang out on another site but it's getting increasingly difficult to get answers or advice there, so I figured I 'd try here. I've got a no start problem but I'll start with a little history.
I've got a 99 model truck and have an Edge Evolution programmer plugged into my DLC. About a year and a half ago, a week or so went by where the truck seemed to take a little longer than normal to start and the truck would occasionally stutter as I drove down the road. One morning I went out to start it and all it would do is turn over and over. I changed the cps, gps and checked everything but couldn't find the problem. I borrowed a friend's Innova scanner that wouldn't link to the pcm and then another friend who worked for Ford brought one of their scanners to the house that wouldn't connect, either. I finally found that my pcm had died. That got replaced and about a week ago (5 months after warranty ended), one day I couldn't get it to start and realized that the same slow start/stutter symptoms had been occurring for several days.
I changed the cps, the gps isn't turning on but I tried jumping the terminals and it didn't help. I have fuel in the bowl, have checked all fuses and relays and connections and I still get nothing, not even smoke out of the tailpipe. I have very little oil in the hpop res. but I had the same problem last time it wouldn't start and I'd fill the res. with oil and it would just empty out the next time I'd try to crank and ended up with too much oil in the truck. I tried the same Innova scanner and again, it won't link but my Ford buddy moved so I no longer have access to a Ford scanner or any other. I'm clueless and toolless as far as being able to check voltages to different spots so maybe I'm missing something but I'm kinda thinking I may have lost another pcm because the symptoms leading up to the no start and the everything I've found since then is exactly the same. The way we finally decided the other pcm was bad was when my buddy brought a spare from the Ford shop that started the truck up but as I said, he's no longer there so I don't have access to one to give it a try.
Anybody got any ideas?
