Help Please

Hi
I have a 7.3 2002 F350 Diesal Dually. live in NY and it's cold, just bought truck with 118,000 mi.

when its at idle at .5 for a few minutes it jumps up to 1.2, and won't lower until I tap the brake. Then after a minute it jumps right back up again.
Is this normal?

I read on your site that if I put it nuetruel with the E brake on, the idle says at .5 all he time, it works just like you said thanks.

Respectfully,

It's working as designed. Do some reading here:

Thanks for Helping.

Should the high idle lower back down on its own at some point. Fluxuate?
respectfully

Thanks.

my idle will not lower on its own in park unless i tap the brake. Then after a minute is goes high idle again.
I will admit, the 7.3 is a great motor.

Thank You for the feed back.

One more question please.......Is it okay to idle for long amounts of time? I ask because I've been napping/sleeping in my truck while my son snow boards.
I've read alot of different opinions.
Thanks All
