Hi
After replacing the MAP sensor a week ago and hearing the whistle, we thought we had left these codes behind but this was not to be. After driving the truck tonight and realizing there is either low or no boost, I scanned it using AE. I found p1248 which didn't surprise me. After returning back, I lifted the hood and looking carefully using a bright light saw traces of soot on both sides but esp on the passenger side firewall. I recently had a Diamond Eye 4" system installed and saw traces on the down pipe as well. I could actually detect faint exhaust vapors spewing from that general area which was visible due to the bright light. My plan of action is to pressure the intake system to detect leaks and likely replace the intake boots and up pipes..prob the Int'l bellowed ones. I will check the downpipe clamp for tightness tomorrow although I think the soot is likely coming from the up pipe. I noticed today that the MAP stayed at about 14.5 no matter what. BTW, there is virtually no visible smoke despite no boost. Shouldn't this thing be smoking like a freight train? Does this sound like a reasonable approach? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. *fixed* While investigating the problem while out on lunch break, I discovered that one of the intercooler pipes had slipped off its boot. I now have boost although not sure how much. Last edited by lght1; 01-08-2013 at 05:49 PM. Reason: problem solved |
