02 dies when defrost is on

02 Will sometimes die when I turn heat knob to the right. I know when I do this the compressor runs. It hasn't died if I turn knob to left, so heat is blowing head and feet. Not sure if it will die if I turn AC on, haven't tried yet. It hasn't died driving but does sometimes at idle or let off accelerator. Must be something with the compressor? Any ideas. Thank you
