Ran out of fuel now won't start
Ok, i was using my old truck to move some things to the barn. it was low on fuel but it was at home so wtf. well it ran out of fuel. No problem Right? hell no.. I put diesel in the tank, a few gallons or so, added some to my filter on top and started to crank. it acted lke it wanted to. like it does, whgen this has happened before. so i added more to the filter, well that was friday, I ran the batteries down so i charged them up again and tried once more. Nothing, so used a bit o starting fluid. it ran for a few seconds than died . I don't like starting fluid, So tried again and nothing it doesn't even sound like it wants to. do anything. what can i try next to get it going.? I never had this much of a problem before. the few times i have ran it out of fuel. air locked? When i remove teh filter cap theres always diesel in there like its not sucking it up llike it did the last time this happen. any suggests would be nice

Usually just turn the key on and off a couple times let it prime up and it should fire off but idk sounds like maybe the pump got trash in it or crapped out

Try opening the drain on your fuel bowl and cycling the key see if fuel runs out that way u know ur pump is working after that if it is pumping close the drain and cycle let 4 or 5 times and it should fire up I would stay away from either IMO also any codes present?

no codes.... I will try draining the bowl and see what happens, SO if it does not fill back up... You are saying it could possibly be the pump??

Yes when u first key on the pump should run for 15 to 20 seconds I think and fill the bowl and put pressure if u have no fuel coming to bowl u have a couple thing u can check fuse or relay also could be trash in the pump or the pump may have crooked. Fuel is what cools the pumps when u run ur truck low on fuel or run it out its hard on the pump and sometime cause them to lock up or get stuck with debre hope this helps

alright thanks man, Gives me a direction. Lets hope its not that. I did drain the bowl but i filled it back up from my can. The last time i had this problem. it kept running out of fuel at a 1/4 tank. and when i dropped the tank the hose from the filter to the pump broke off so not getting fuel at about a 1/4 tank. and i'd just fill the filter up a few times and i was on my way. 30 min. tops. i spendt 3 hours friday cranking my batteries dead. I'll let you know.. what happens next
