Bad Pcm, if installed into a running truck will it cause damage?

I have found burnt wires and had numerus other issues that are intermitant. I believe that it comes down to the wires burning up the Pcm. If I install mine into another running truck due I need to worry about burning anything up in that truck. I believe that I would be fine to do so but just wanted others expierence on it.
