Question High Pressure Oil Low PSI... ?

Hey guys I have been looking at my truck lately trying to figure out why when I do the 60 mph and wot test to check my oil pressure I only get to about 1800 psi and then it falls to about 1600-1700 and holds.

-Truck is an early 99 with 180,000 miles

-Has been getting horrible mileage (10 or 11) and I have heard low oil pressure can cause this...

-Stock AB injectors replaced about 15,000 miles ago

Is there a way to check the IPR and see if it is bad vs the HPOP?

I put a new Pressure sensor in it a few months back but it made no difference.

Thanks in advance,
Jordan

you'd need a device capable of commanding the ipr duty cycle. you can install an air line, with the proper fitting, into the icp port. if you command the ipr open and shut, you should be able to hear a change in the tone of the air. or, you could command the ipr shut, install the airline into another hpo test port, view icp and command the ipr open and closed, while watching the variation of icp in relation to ipr movement.

here's an excellent pdf on diagnosing hpop failure and icp leaks in a 7.3
