Strange issue on startup!
Weather started getting cold here in the midwest and now on start up sometimes my truck has a strange issue. It will start up with no problem, but after letting it run a few minutes the idle picks up, and it's got a weird sound coming from the exhaust...louder than normal and it sounds like a LOT of air rushing...hard to explain. This problem actually happened to me on the interstate yesterday and it felt like boost was dropping out but if I gave it gas it corrected itself. Any ideas?

That's actually normal it your exhaust back pressure valve, ebpv. If u press your brake it should kick off. It's usefull to get your truck nice and warm on these cold months.

damn, feeling like a noob now but I'll take it because I didn't know that. would it do that while driving as well if it wasn't warmed up yet? I guess I'm going to have to keep the block warmer plugged in....

Don't worry I'm a noob myself I just read a lot of posts on here lol. Um I don't think it should be doing that while in drive. Block heater is a good idea and doesn't hurt one bit just your electric bill lol. I keep mine on a timer 3 hours before I get up to start it.
