Exhaust TEMP GAUGE PROBLEM MAYBE??????????

HEY GUYS

I HAVE A 99 FORD F350 WITH A 4 GAUGE PILLAR POD WITH ONE OF THEM BEING MY EXHAUST TEMP GAUGE..

WELL A FEW DAYS IM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THESE LIL PROBLEMS

WELL 1ST ITS A GLOW SHIFT GAUGE ITS PROB NOT THE BEST BUT ITS ON THE TRUCK. THE SPOT WHERE ITS MOUNTED IS ON THE DOWN PIPE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. NO ITS NOT MOUNTED ON THE MANIFOLD BUT IT STILL WORKS PROB NOT 100% BUT DOES READ.. WELL I START THE TRUCK UP 1ST COLD GAUGE READS 2 IM STILL LEARNING THE GAUGE SO IT READS 2 IM GUESSING 200 IS THIS RIGHT OR A CRAPPY GAUGE? NOW WHILE DRIVING IT DOES GO UP IT DOES GO DOWN BUT I JUST FEEL ITS RUNNING WARMER THEN IT SHOULD BE..

DO I HAVE MAYBE A CAT FULL OF CRUD? OR A CRAPPY GAUGE?

What temps do you see while driving? If you can, take caps lock off and use some punctuation. That post runs together and a little confusing.

sorry lol

when cold it starts at 2 what ever 2 is maybe 200 then you drive it it goes to 5 or 6 normal driving of course it goes higher while i really step into it. Then it would lower when off the gas. I have never seen it up near 15 or so the most Ive seen was 10 on the gauge while towing.

You're good. It's actually running hotter than what it says but that is just because of the probe location. It's probably off 150 degrees or so.

Nope, should be fine. If you want to get it more accurate, drill and tap the drivers side manifold and move it there. You could just get a plug to install back in the downpipe.
