2001 7.3 died
pulling out from stop sign and truck died. no previous indications of problems, replaced cps but did'nt help. codes as follows: p1280, p0603, p1316, p0340. any thoughts? thanks in advance

Well, let's see;
1280 Low ICP, you could try and unplug it maybe and see if it will start. 603 Ignore that one, just means the PCM went unpowered recently at some point 1316 - this is the IDM telling you to do a buzz test so it can further resolve IDM codes 340 CPS you did that already... How about the usual suspects? Does the WTS light come on? (shows the computer is running) Is there fuel in the fuel bowl now? Does it refill after cranking? (open the drain level to check) Could the fuel gauge be giving a bad reading? (are you close to empty?) Fuel - pump runs? Fuel refilling filter housing? Tank below 1/4? Tach Movement? - does the tach needle move up slightly when cranking? Remove the DPTuner as a Test. |

removed chip, has 60lbs fuel pressure, 3/4 tank of fuel, checked all fuses and swapped relays around to confirm they are working, reconnected cps, checked nut on idm. probably going to have to do a buzz test?

wait to start light comes on, tach has movement, fuel in bowl, unpluged icp no difference in starting, fuel pump is running. I think either icp or idm.looks like idm would be a pain to change, I know a guy that can do buzz test later in week, guess that's the next step?

Yea, really it's time to get it on a scanner and monitor the ICP, IPR, and do the buzz test...

Idm is tricky because its in a tough spot. Perfect time to upgrade it to a higher voltage one if its toasted

unplugged idm looked like some old dielectric grease from factory in the plug? blew out plug and pins with air hose and now i don't have idm code. all i have is p1280. truck still does'nt hit off at all with or without icp plugged in. idm does'nt seem to dirty or wet, maybe it's ok.

Did buzz test last week. Good hpop pressure, ipr working fine, inzectors sounded good, no signal to idm. I replaced idm with reman unit, truck run fine until it gets to operating temp then dies, tried another idm today same thing, getting 1316 code again. What could shut truck down after it gets warm?
