00 hard start..now no start
ok lookin for some help here...2000 F-250 4x4 108,000 mi.. for about a month now my truck has been having trouble starting..yes its getting a little cold here. first start or after it has been sitting an extended period of time it would crank slow seemed to almost kill the battery but would fire up. So i had the batteries checked..there good, i recently replaced the terminals so they are good as well. I checked the glow plug relay and that is good 2. So i bought a starter and replaced it. When i tried to start it(cold) it cranked as it should but would not start. Now after killing the battery i swapped it for another known good battery i noticed some oil on the ICP sensor so just for giggles unplugged it. But it still seems to be dead.. clicking like its dead dim lights and not even turning over.. i am putting in on charge over nite just to be sure.. any help would be appreciated i hope i gave enough info for a start at least..

Sounds very much like what happens to bad batteries as soon as it starts getting cold...
How were your batteries tested? They need to be Load Tested, at a High Rate (not one of those dinky 100A testers the Auto Parts Stores use on 4cly cars) after being charged-up fully. Load them individually at 250 - 300 Amps to know they're going to be able to run the Glow Plugs and crank over your High Compression Diesel Engine

And make sure they are disconnected and tested separately. If they are in the truck still then make sure you unhook one when testing.
Also make sure your connections are good on the batteries and on the starter and block. If that's all good I'd replace glow plugs and harnesses. Do you have a lot of white smoke when starting cold? Sent from my iPhone using Autoguide.com App |

Mine was doing the same thing. You need to test your glow plugs and the relay. I would unhook the glow plug relay and then key it on and see if it over amps/ It might not start but it will give you a good place to start.
