Lost turbo whistle?
Truck's turbo had be fine, nice good strong whistle from the turbo and suddenly it stopped.
Outline of events: Drove to friends house, we worked in the shop for the day and then that night while driving home I noticed the turbo seems to not be working and there was no whistle sound. Only thing we did was disconnect the neg terminal on the battery because we were installing a radio. Is it possible the turbo died, or if disconnecting the neg power from the battery, may have reset the computer deleting a tune that may have been in it? I'm not sure a tune was in it before hand... All I know is the best MPG I could get was 15, when my old 97' got 19! I bought this truck a few weeks ago and everything has seemded fine until this happen. 2000 F250 SRW 7.3 w/ 106,000 miles. Add: When you drive it and mash on the gas hard, it will not whistle and seems slugish. You can keep your foot on the floor and she will still not whistle or really haul balls. During this, she does not smoke at all; not white or black. She has never smoked since I've owned it. Any ideas? |

look under the dash where the IDM is located (left of brake, black rectangular box), see if theres a "window" cut into it. Taht'll tell ya if a chips' been installed.

Even if there was a chip installed and disconnecting the neg power post, maybe flashing the code, shouldn't it reset back to factory? Regardless, why would the turbo not whistle or seem to build spool?
