Hope you guys can help me...towed travael trailer to Colorado and ran like a champ. Next day lost power and suspected bad sounding fuel pump. Replaced it and still not good. Took it to a powerstroke mechanic and buzzed injectors. #2,4,8 came back open but not 6. So he pulled valve cover and said harness kinda unplugged. Said he fixed it and used a cotter pin to keep it from happening again. Truck ran great for about 30 miles and same 1316 code. If i cleared the code with my edge, it would run ok for a bit and then same crap. Took it back to shop and he said he pretty sure it's the idm. None in town and couldn't get one for 3 days. Left trailer in CO and tried to risk getting home to fix. It was spuratic for a while then all bad. Started getting dark and noticed my voltmeter was really low. Tried to turn on lights and volts kept dropping. Now I'm stranded with the family waiting to tow truck. Could it have been alternator all along? Or really idm?

Got it done. Alternator had a bad regulator. Replaced IDM and didn't help....luckily my NAPA store was cool and let me return it. Replaced the valve cover and UVCH......runs like a champ again. Now gotta get back to CO to pick up the trailer.

Glad you got it home- if it starts to act up again and restarting seems to help a little, check the ICP for oil in the plug, mine acted the same way and that was the bugger.
