burning oil! !!please help!!

so i changed my oil tonight, its been about 7k miles since ive changed it. i drained the oil and put 15 quarts in, but when i poored my old oil in the containers and i only got 10-12 quarts back. is this normal or bad?? (old stuff was 15-40 royal purple btw)

My truck has about 90k on it I usually change my oil every 4-6k and it is doing the same thing do if be interested too.

Um...not to be a smartazz but, do you ever check your oil with the dipstick?

Seems like a lot to be suddenly missing.

Not to many places it can go either on ground which with that much oil I would think you would see that or burning it. Check turbo for play be a place to start

On the dipstick it reads just fine but when I go to empty it, it only puts out about 13 qts Max idk why. I just replaced all the seals on my turbo about 2 months ago.

Ok, you put 15 qts in at oil change, check the oil the whole x,xxx miles and its good. Then, when you drain it, you only get 13 qts.

Ever account for the 2 qts in the filter?

yes i do check my oil with the dipstick; however when the level is gradually going down i guess you dont really notice it. i checked my oil days before i changed it and it was in the "normal" range, not the top but not the bottom. i guess i didnt notice it had gone down over time. Now i park in the same spot for sometimes days at a time and NEVER leave oil. The turbo is about 1,000 miles old i got it brand new, checked around the seals with no leaks. "pwrstrkdsl7.3l" has the exact same problem as me...

Seriously though, if you are basing it off how much you drain, don't forget the filter.

If you are slowly losing oil, i think between the 2 marks on the engine oil dipstick is 2 qts.

i poured the oil from the filter back in the pan. Their is no way their is no more than 1/2 quart still in the filter.....
