Unidentified component making funny noise

2000 7.3L - Noticing a very noticable rapid pop-pop-pop-pop-pop (at least 3 per second) from this... sensor...? with the ignition key on, engine off. Using AllDataDiy, I was not able to figure out what this is (the one with the green connector on it, on an induction tube, one of the plastic lines goes to the turbo.) Is the sound I'm getting normal?
Thanks

That's the solenoid that controls the wastegate. Can't say I've heard any noise coming from the one on my truck.

Confirmed with the dealer P/N is F81Z-6C673-AA, turbo control solenoid. Anyone else get any noise from this part? If failure is imminent, I'd prolly spend the $50 for a spare

It's not normal, but idk why it'd be popping.

The sound mine was making sounded like a pump of some sort, maybe a diaphram pump and the wastegate runs on a vacuum line, so that sounds normal to me

There is a vacuum pump to operate the 4WD front hubs and air vents in the cab, but the WG is operated of engine vacuum, not the pump.

the wastegate has a red vacuum line that goes directly to the pump/solenoid we are talking about. there is also a green vacuum line that comes off this solenoid that goes to the intake just after the filter, so maybe this solenoid is a valve that regulates vacuum coming off the intake?

The green line is the vacuum supply off the intake pre turbo.
The red line is the vacuum supply for the WG actuator.
Do you know what a WG does?
