01 electrical issues... whacky issues
B-inlaw has a 2001 7.3 350 4x4 no mods. Last year he had issues where the trucks headlights turned on, on their own which killed the battery. He had it at a shop where they replaced the starter.. and it worked well with no issues til now.
Last night he jumps into his truck to go home and finds the radio is on with no key, starts the truck and as hes driving home the overdrive kicks off, gets it home and shuts down, pulls the key and the lights won't shut off. He has disconnected the batteries - lesson learnt last year. Truck does not have any mods except for command start (which I believe is causing the issues). The truck has had the ignition recall performed. Any ideas? Also noticed with the battery hooked up says he could hear a "clicking" sound from engine bay. I think you are going in the right direction with that command start unit. I have seen so much grief with them over the years, I don't recommend them to anyone.
That said, I won't have one on any of my own vehicles. If it's too cold/hot/rainy/etc for me to go start the truck... it doesn't need to go anywhere. That said, I also like to sit there and watch the oil pressure, especially during those -40C and below cold starts. |
