exhaust leak question

i just bought a 01 f350. i noticed an exhaust leak when i purchased it. thought no big deal. well now im not so sure. i have read the horrors of the up pipes leaking at the donut gasket. but im not sure if thats where its at. the black suet is all around the block right behind the manifold on bothe sides. the only black on the up pipes is right around the bolts. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks
