Just had my injector cups replaced, no damage???

Okay our mechanic just replaced my injector cups we found diesel in the coolant bottle and antifreeze in my fuel tank, seemed like the likely problem, but when he pulled the old ones out he never found any damage or cracks to the old ones, could it be something else or can the stuff get past without a crack visible???
