Temp Guage not working with new sensor

I just had to replace my water pump today and the sensor that was on the bad pump was damaged when taking off. I went to Autozone and bought a duralast engine temp sensor. I put it on and I have ran the engine for long enough and it is reading no temp at all. Is there any suggesting anyone can give me before I go back and try a new sensor. It was working fine before I bought this one. Thanks guys.
