Front Crank Seal

The front crank seal on the balancing wheel is leaking. I know this is attached to the LPOP but I don't fully understand the operation. I am considering doing this repair myself and would like some recommendations. It looks like I can pull out the fan and then pull the wheel off and replace the seal and push it back on. Is it as simple as that?

Got the same issue going on with my 02. Did you ever fix it? Was it a seal or the LPOP leaking?

Yeah I got it fixed. It was the front seal. It was a PITA but got it done. Some tips:
Use an air chisle to get the fan nut off.
Find the right size harmonic balancer puller or youll end up fabing one out of 1/4" steel like me.
Use channel locks to pull the old seal.
Good luck. Its nice having a leak (amost) free truck.

Since your doing it I'd recommend a melling pump, comes with the seal, definite improvement over stock
