Cruisin' down the road and TRUCK started jerking
Pulling my horse trailer home saturday night running about 65 when it suddenly started jerking, noticed the tach needle bouncing from 1k to about 2k. Then smooth out after I slowed down. CEL came on and was able to get back to the house with no problems. Shut it down to unload and CEL did NOT come back on start up. Never died on me like I understand it does with CPS problem. Or am I wrong?
Drove to town yesterday, no problems until the drive home. Same symptoms. Then made it home with no problems. Buddy has a generic scanner that did not pick anything up. Only a couple of mechanics locally with a "real" scanner so pulling codes could take me up to a week to get an appointment. Drove to work with no issues this morning. Any ideas of where I can start without a code?

If the CEL came on, there is a code. Sounds like the scanner wasn't up to par.

Still haven't found a local with a decent scanner. It shut off turning left across traffic, again pulling a trailer. Managed to coast off the road. Fired back up but then died while idling. Started again.
Just installed new grey cps. (replaced a black). Keeping my fingers crossed. |

My truck did the same thing when the CPS was going out... seemed like it was worse when loaded or raining FWIW...

Put in about 150 miles of highway driving and 20ish city yesterday. No stalling, jerking or dying.
However, I still have the intermittent feeling like Im pulling a house and I notice the engine louder. Other times it sounds smooth and feels really light with plenty of extra power to go. |
