Power loss please help

Power loss
Its hard to describe. At times I will have the pedal to the floor as I am going up a grade and will have to down shift as the speed keeps going down. At other times i can go up this grade in overdrive barely touching the pedal. When it loses power the engine sounds louder and has no accelleration. when it is running correct motor is quite and has all sorts of accelleration. all filters have been changed along with oil. I was wondering if it is a senser.
