won't crank but will start from solenoid
I've purchased a 2000 7.3 with a 6 speed. Runs great and only has 100,495 miles. I've done the TS chip last month and the 6637 air filter also. Problem is that yesterday after changing the oil, it would not turn over. I finally jumped the wires on the solenoid and it fired right up. After that it wiorked fine until this morning. Same deal, had to jump the solenoid. I thought maybe the clutch switch but it was replaced when I bought the truck. I am totally stumped on this and I am also new too desiels. What should I be looking for? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Check the solenoid to see if one of the small wires is supplying ground to the coil when the key is rotated to the Start position.
If not, see if that ground path is making it through the Clutch sw. If it IS, replace the solenoid. |
