In idle a poping noise

I drove it all day and stopped at my girlfriends house now there was popping going the exhaust and a puff of white smoke. Idk what it is. Anyone have ideas?

Ummm, it can be many things.
First make yourself more clear. Exhaust. Manifold? Tail pipe?
Is the popping with the RPMs or random?
Puff of white smoke at idle or when you hit the accel?

Tail pipe it seems like. That's where the sound is coming from also was looking at the Rpms just sitting there outside truck talking letting it cool down and heard that noise and puff of smoke and when I accel there is no white smoke unless I get on it hard then there's a mix of white and black

Oh so it just happened once just sitting at idle? Happened again after that?
I'd think injector possibly.
I have heard of valves being an issue at random times, but usually after hard, high RPMs.

It didn't happen again once I got home. And 2000 to 2500 Rpms on highway

i had a popping noise and it was a bent pushrod on the exhaust side
exhaust valve was not opening which made exhaust come back thru the intake, replaced pushrod and solved problem
i have stage 2 injectors and a tune,bent pushrods are common on 7.3 motor ive had the problem more than once
the fix is new valve springs and new hi perf pushrods
