Video.........can you tell me what's wrong?

My buddy just e-mailed me this video of his truck trying to start, his symptoms yesterday............... ran rough on start-up, blowing white smoke until it warmed up, cleaned up and it ran fine for 50 miles. Parked it for a couple of hours, started, smoked heavily, running rough, then died. Hasn't been able to get it fired since then.
No codes, using a Innova 3100.......
Changed CPS, wasn't it.
Fuel in the bowl, filter is clean.

No, it's not about the IDM, it's about those connections at the Valve Cover (UVCH)

I would think that the injectors are getting fuel because of the smoke.
seems like it is more of a heat in the cyls. issue.

has anyone diagnosed the gp system?

other than that, I would say to have a compression test done.

I guess im not suggesting that it is dying.

You stated that the idm was replaced, the cps, and the uvch's have been addressed. I believe it is electrical but you have narrowed down a few of the common issues.

I asked about the glow plug system first and just suggested a comp test to help identify or rule out options.

On a side note, why did you skip over the gp question?
That, i felt, was a more important question.
no big deal though.

Yea, that's an excellent point, where's all that fuel coming from...

But it doesn't seem to be running on all 8 either,,, did the SES light come on when it was doing that? I'm not sure, but I don't think your Innova 3100 is up to the task here. I'd want to see what the right scanner pulled for Fuel & ICP pressure along with the IPR % when it was cranking over now.

Both times it did it, it was after sitting? Then, once he did get it running, it cleared-up and ran well for some time... How about a bad injector dumping a ton of fuel into a cylinder as it sat maybe???
