Knocking, possible #8?

A few months ago, I had my truck scanned with the Ford Rotunda software. #8 cylinder came up on the computer but I didn't notice the truck running any different. Just recently, (250 miles ago) I decided to try the 100 performance setting on my chip for a whole tank to see what kind of mileage I would get. I've dogged the truck a few times between now and then and since i've had it on the 100 perf setting but I drive it as if it were in stock setting most of the time. Tonight when I pulled up to my house, I noticed what sounded like a knock. I left the truck running, popped the hood, and I could hear a knock coming from the passenger side towards the back of the engine. My question is, can I just throw an injector in, or is #8 cyl toast and the whole engine need a rebuild?

Truck is in sig, 117k miles. If you need more info, let me know.

Passenger side is 1-7. It could be a few things but pulling the valve cover and pulling the plug on each injector may help you track down the problem.

If you were closer I would say we could compare. How many miles on your truck?

I have a sticking injector. Started it today and it idled like it had a big cam in it. Started accelerating out of my driveway and it vibrated and ran rough. Now to figure out which one(s) are messed up!

Threw a 'Service Engine Soon' light today also. Would injectors do that?

i worked on a 97 that had a similar problem, it would knock like crazy from the #7, and eventually wouldnt start or would be really hard to start and would run terribble, threw me some codes that just didnt really add up to an injector, but i replaced it anyway and it didnt do anything. after a little more work it turned out to be a fuel pump that went bad, so before dropping money on an injector i would check to make sure your fuel pump is good.
