hello,
i recently traded for a 2002 f450 7.3l diesel truck and i cant figure out if this is a problem or if the RPM are supposed to be this high. the truck seems to do fine when driving in the city however when i get on the interestate is when i question the performance. when im doing a steady 70 MPH the RPM reads roughly 3, and it redlines at 3.5 so im thinking this cant be right? im not that familiar with diesel's so i could totally be wrong here. ![]() so my question is, are the RPM supposed to be at 3 when im doing ~70MPH? please let me know asap before i blow this thing up ![]() EDIT: and this is without any load... Is the od light lite up on the shifter. I know on my f-350 my push button don't work and sometimes it will run high rpm when at 55mph. Anyways it doesnt shift into overdrive. I have to stop shut it off and wiggle the shifter and it works sometime.

that f450 probably has really low gears, i worked on one a few months ago and if i remember correctly, it was pulling about 3k @70mph
