turbo surge or wastegate

After doing the 6637 install, I can hear what sounds like turbo surge while towing. It only happens at about 2000 rpms while towing a trailer up a grade. The SES light will come on as soon as it starts to make this sound. How can I diagnose this without replacing parts.

Yeah your turbo is surging its a pretty common thing with the 7.3s. To solve the problem, two things, one get a wicked wheel installed. That will take care of your surging and second, get a boost fooler for your truck. Pretty simple to hook up and that will keep from you gettin your SES light coming on again. Good luck

That is what I was wondering. if the boost is too high, wont the wastegate open? If the wastegate opens, wouldn't stop the turbo surge?
