early 99 with stutter and white smoke
Ok. Fix one another comes up. Since I'm currently stationed in korea I've had a friend of mine working on my truck. Recently he replaced the injector cups and UVCH harness on my 350. I also had my TS 6 pos chip reprogrammed to get rid of the smoke tune.
(all information from my wife, sorry if its a little... vague) While driving about 60ish on a nice warm day in georgia the truck started to "stutter and blow white smoke out the tail pipe" and after she stopped "white smoke from under the hood" did it twice in the same day. both while truck was normal temps. Had my buddy look into it and he ran it up to 3000k in neutral and let off the throttle. Nothing. Did the same thing but slowly let it back down to idle and it stuttered and died. I've looked into some threads about white smoke on decel, loose ICP sensors, bad IPRs, CPS, ect. Just tryin to get some more information if possible on what this could be. any help would be amazing! Sorry for the book. |

Have you seen this thread?
IF your 7.3 starts blowing white smoke, and stumbling - READ THIS - MAT SENSOR |

I hadn't ran across that one yet. Thanks! I'll have my buddy look into it. Only issue I see with the MAT sensor is that my truck doesnt smoke all the time. Only the two times while driving. Other than that it runs great. Or so my wife tells me. But all the same, thanks for the help!

got another update from my wife... she said the smell of the smoke was a mix of diesel, oil and burnt rubber. so sounds like it does it most of the time... definitely have them look into the MAT sensor now. Also, started it up after sitting over night and no smoke at all. runs like normal at an idle...
