Motor dieing. Ses light

So everytime I go to **** gears once I shift the engine goes to an idle and it won't rev again unless I clutch and pump the gas. Engine light comes on until u rev. Has anyone else had this issue or no where to start looking

So you're in gear, clutch in, shift gears, clutch out, and unless gas it touched, motor sits at idle speed?
Does it feel like the clutch is engaged then or does it feel like the motor is bogged and you can feel the loss of power in the wheels?

Ya when it does it you can put the pedal to the floor and it doesn't even respond its like there's no pedal there to the motor

That could be a lot of things.
I'd scan it and get the saved code from the CEL being thrown.
