Waste Gate
Why is my waste gate opening while I am driving down the road? It only occurs when it is cold and once it is up to temp quits, But it means I have to either let it sit and warm up or loose signifigant power when it opens. I can give it more fuel and it will close but as soon as I let up it opens.

The waste gate you will hear pswoosh for a second. Trust me I tried to smoke my tires it would start to spin the the waste gate opened as described above they did get smoked just not as much as it could of. The EBPV will sound like a small jet engine. |

I'm always doubtful that people can hear the wastegate. It's just bypassing the turbine. You might hear the compressed air surging because the drive pressure just got dropped.

Thanks for the replies. Should that back pressure valve be working when I am driving down the road?

It should be operating when cold. Idk the parameters the PCM uses to close it. But it seems like it's normal. Unless it's warm, then it's not.

You can always unplug the epbv, the pig tail is right under the intake spyder if I remember correctly. This will keep it from opening up.
